Courting the Dragon Mage
In this standalone romantasy, follow the story of Lyra A'mar, a girl plagued with a terrible curse. The only way to break it is by hunting the infamous dragon mage and stealing his heart, but the catch? He has to be in love with her first. For fans of Howl's Moving Castle & Beauty and the Beast.

FAQ
Is this a romantasy?
Yes! There is a large focus on the characters and their growing relationship with each other. I'd say there is a healthy balance between romance & fantasy elements.
Is there spice? What is the age level?
This is my spiciest book. There are two explicit scenes, but they could easily be passed over if you don't like spice!
What is Romancing the Realms?
It is a collaboration between five authors. Romancing the Realms features five standalone romantasies that all share a common theme (ours is that each of our MCs are romancing a supernatural creature). These are STANDALONES set in each author's own universes, so none of them have to be read in order to read the authors.
Books in Romancing the Realms:
Courting the Dragon Mage by Jordan Dugdale
Courting the Tiger King by Jade Church
Courting the Moon Priest by Miranda Joy
Courting the Swan Prince by Michelle Moras
Courting the Fae Captain by Chloe Hodge
If you like these specific things, you might like this book...
- this book is heavily influenced by the vibes of Howl's Moving Castle (particularly the Studio Ghibli film). If you like HMC, then I think you'll like CTDM!
- I have also had my editor and a few early readers compare some of the vibes to Beauty and the Beast.
- dragons! But rather than your standard dragon, the dragon in this novel is possessing the MMC so it's more akin to a dragon shifter with a lot of the interactions you might see in a story like Eragon.
- polyam / why choose (the characters all have a relationship with each other - it's a throuple situation between two women and one man)
- Celtic faerie mythology: anyone that's read my A Flower's Fatal Thorn or Holly Black's The Cruel Prince will be familiar with the faerie mythology in Courting the Dragon Mage
- Worship kink - Alistair loves to worship his women ;)
- Gothic settings
- mages, magic, & curses - all three of ours MCs are cursed with different ailments so if you like a good ol' 'we need to break this curse that's been put on us' then you'll probably like CTDM!
